Apologies if I'm missing an existing answer to this Q.
Gwenview used to handle mp4s like a dream, for audio and video. Then I did ... something wrong. I'll admit that I'm not sure just what, since I was trying (unsuccessfully) to solve an audio problem with VLC. And somewhere in a haze of failed attempts to upgrade codecs and plugins and assorted sound card configurations, I seem to have broken Gwenview's ability to play mp4s at all. Right now, they won't play at all. No video, No audio. And I'm struggling to find an obvious fix for this. I'm running KDE/Gwenview 4.11.4 on OpenSUSE 13.1 Any clues as to how I might proceed would be most appreciated. Thanks! |

I would guess that your issue is with the phonon-backend, which one are you using and could you try switching to the other (vlc or gstreamer)

Thanks for the speedy reply ... and it may have been a phonon-backend issue, but I'm not sure. (Re?)Installing the KDE-codecs available here -- http://opensuse-community.org/ -- appears to have solved the problem, though, since Gwenview is once again rolling mp4s the way it used to.
