Hi, I've just updated to gwenview 5.0.0 pre together with the whole kde update in Archlinux (using KDE frameworks 5.6.0) and found out that SVGs and XCFs files are not previewing any more.
SVG files appear but with a red sign instead of the thumbnail (I'd like to attach a screenshot but cant find the option). XCF files dont even show up.

I tried to downgrade gwenview to version 4.14.0 pre and it works partially: svg and xcf files appear again but in certain folders with big xcf files gwenview crashes (previously it worked, maybe its related to the fact that I just downgraded gwenview, not libraries, etc?).
Let me know if theres smtg obvious Im missing or if I should attach some crash info, etc.
Thanks in advance!

re: images, the forum doesn't host images you must use a 3rd part image hosting site

to facilitate tagging there are buttons if you use the post's preview button

the tags are:
Code: Select all
for images
to resize the image (width size limit of 720 pixels) [thumb=500] http:/address_of_image [/thumb]

Thanks for the tips on how to use the forum!! :)

Regarding the svg thumbnails, I've just tried with a different user and they work!! (sorry I didnt try before) so I've got to find what's wrong with my account :-\

However the xcf files dont show either...
anybody else is having this issue??
cheers!

I've tried on another PC with ArchLinux and had the same results.
I'm thinking on asking in a Arch forum... will report any news here as well...
thanks in advance for any tips...

Ok, made some advances over here ^-^
I found some recommendations in KDE's entry in Arch's wiki about uninstalling completely kde4 before installing Plasma, so I did a:
$ pacman -Rc kdebase-workspace
and also uninstalled all kde related apps and then installed Plasma + gwenview again.
Also I deleted all kde related conf in my homedir via:
$ cp -r ~/.kde4 ~/.kde4.safekeeping
$ rm .kde4/{cache,socket,tmp}-$(hostname)

and rebuilt my cache:
$ rm ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
$ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental

now I can see svgs thumbnails again and the previews of folders, but still cant even list xcf files :-\
is it possible that I have to enable xcf's previews somewhere in kde's or gwenview's conf?
Btw I'm running gwenview inside gnome-shell, but Im having the same results logging in with Plasma...
I've tried with and without libgnomeui.

do you have a kimageformats package installed "Image format plugins for Qt"
This framework provides additional image format plugins for QtGui. As such it is not required for the compilation of any other software, but may be a runtime requirement for Qt-based software to support certain image format

files installed with this package :
/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/imageformats
kimg_eps.so, kimg_exr.so, kimg_pcx.so, kimg_pic.so, kimg_psd.so, kimg_ras.so, kimg_rgb.so, kimg_tga.so, kimg_xcf.so
/usr/share/doc/packages/kimageformats
COPYING.LIB
/usr/share/kservices5/qimageioplugins
dds.desktop, eps.desktop, exr.desktop, jp2.desktop, pcx.desktop, pic.desktop, psd.desktop, ras.desktop, rgb.desktop, tga.desktop, xcf.desktop

Someone in the Arch forum suggested the same about kimageformats and qt5-imageformats. They were installed, but tried reinstalling and now it works!!! ;D
[root@psyd2 mat]# pacman -S qt5-imageformats
warning: qt5-imageformats-5.4.0-3 is up to date -- reinstalling
[root@psyd2 mat]# pacman -S kimageformats
warning: kimageformats-5.6.0-1 is up to date -- reinstalling

however now gwenview is crashing when entering a folder with big xcf files which wasnt happening before the upgrade, but I'll open a new topic with this issue.
thank you so much for your help!!!

try entering that folder as a different user (might need to change permissions)
