I am running Gwenview 17.08.1 on OpenSuse Tumbleweed.
I recently used the Gwenview Importer to import a few images from my iPhone. Using the thumbnails, I then moved the images to another directory. At which point they disappeared from view and I wasn't able to locate them using any search criteria. I decided to re-import them, but Gwenview returned a message advising that it was skipping the images, as they had already been imported. Is there a file somewhere that can be amended to allow the re-import of lost images? Thanks. By the way, I have found my lost images. I hadn't realized that they were being renamed by default and, therefore, weren't where I expected them to be. I believe my query is still, however, valid, as there may be an occasion that I or others need to re-import images. |

Gwenview does not maintain a list of past imported files. The importer just checks whether in the target directory an image with the same target filename already exists. If so, it compares sizes and eventually the exact file content of both images. If this determines the images to be exactly identical, the image to import is skipped, otherwise it will be imported and given a different name.
(At least that's what I remember the code doing several months ago when I fixed the importer to not eat all images and import them correctly instead… ![]() As you can see, there is no list involved as the check is repeated on every import. There is no such thing as a re-import, because either the images are already there or they will be there after the import. Of course, you could specify a different target directory if you want your images duplicated in multiple places. Does this answer your question? |
