Viewing dds files

Fri Feb 02, 2018 9:00 pm
Hello -

I'm using version 16.08.03 in Debian Stretch with kipi-plugins installed.

In Debian Wheezy and Jessie I was able to view .dds files in Gwenview, but I am unable to view them in Stretch. When I try to view the file I receive a message saying that "Gwenview cannot display documents of type image/x-dds". I don't remember if I had to add an additional plugin to Gwenview in Wheezy and/or Jessie.

Searching for Gwenview and dds has not yielded any results. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,
Robert

Your observation that current versions of Gwenview (or rather KDE Frameworks / Qt) are unable to display DDS files is correct.

Thanks very much for the link. It's nice to know the reason why something has changed.
