Using KDE Neon user edition, 5.15.4, I get consistent segfaults when I try to view certain images. I did some searching, and found this:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382842

The description fits perfectly (just the description... I didn't attempt to read the stack traces). I even downloaded the test image from that thread to see if it was one of the ones that triggers a crash, and indeed it was. I was not able to use the automated tool to submit a bug report, as the submit button is disabled and grayed out even after I generate the "this information is useful" level stacktrace. Before I attempt to submit a bug manually, I want to be sure of what I am doing, as I have never done it before and I don't want to waste the devs' time.

I tried it in Kubuntu 18.04, and its older Gwenview (and associated libraries) were able to view the test image without a hiccup. My installed version of libexiv2 in Neon is the same version as in my Kubuntu 18.04, so despite the identical symptoms and even the same image triggering the crash, the cause appears to be different this time.

I then tried rolling back the Gwenview versions. When I rolled it back to the same version as in Kubuntu 18.04, which was 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1, I was again able to view the test image without crashing. None of the versions newer than that were able to do so without crashing.

Is anyone else able to see this? That test image from bug 382842 should trigger it if you have the same bug I'm seeing. If others using Neon user edition or another distro with a newer version of Gwenview than what I am using are able to see the image, it's possible there's something errant in my systems (I tried it on three of them, and all crashed trying to display the image. I tend to configure them as identically as possible for simplicity, so if I did something that messed it up to one, I probably did it to all of them).
