few days before, I could view PSD files in Gwenview, but now it is impossible. I get error message "Loading 'file.psd' failed. Loading meta information", screenshot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/221/gwenviewbug.png.

Gwenview does not contain PSD specific code. It relies on Qt and KDE image decoders to read different formats. You need a file named kimg_psd.so in $KDEDIR/lib/kde4/plugins/imageformats to be able to deceode PSD. It is installed when you build kdelibs.

I found kimg_psd.so in /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/imageformats/kimg_psd.so (Archlinux). I can view PSD for example with KuickShow viewer or with Okular. Is there any other way to solve this bug? Or should I post it to a another forum?

I just tried reproduce this issue and results are strange:
- Distro version of Gwenview and kdelibs (4.7.97 from Kubuntu Precise): can't read .psd
- Gwenview and kdelibs from the KDE/4.8 git branch: can read .psd
- Gwenview from KDE/4.8 branch and distro kdelibs: can read .psd

These results look like something was fixed in latest Gwenview, but git log shows nothing about image decoder fixes. Basically, I am puzzled, but maybe upgrading your Gwenview will fix it for you? If you are comfortable building Gwenview from git, it would be interesting to give it a try, see if the version you build can read .psd.

Hi, I will wait for KDE 4.8 release... because Gwenview from git needs kdelibs from git etc.

So it doesn't work in 4.8 final release.

I have no problem to view psd file in KDE 4.8.1 on Gentoo. Could it be some missing dependency?

Dependencies are ok. I have tried to build Gwenview from source, but same problem occurs. There is a strace log http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51605867/gwenview-strace.log

Could someone post a copy of a relevant PSD file somewhere, including information on some metadata it should have so I can test against my Trunk system?

On my Trunk system:
- Both Dolphin and Gwenview could generate a preview of the image
- Gwenview could not view the PSD file
- Neither Dolphin nor Gwenview showed any non-general metadata specific to the image

It looks like the thumbnailer works but somehow the image cannot be viewed - which is odd.

Seems to be solved after upgrade to KDE 4.8.2

I can confirm Gwenview now shows metadata and is able to view the image. Dolphin still can't show metadata, but that is a seperate issue.
