KDE 4.8.1 KDE Pim Issue

Sat Mar 10, 2012 4:09 pm
I just upgraded from 4.7.6 (Or something like that) to 4.8.1 and now, when I try to connect to my eGroupware server to get my appointments (Which worked fine before), I get the following error now:

eGroupware: Unable to retrieve items: There was a problem with the request.Unknown error code 0
Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org. (404).

I can still see my appointments, but this error pops up from time to time in my notifications area.

Anyway around it?

I'm using Kubuntu 11.10 with the ppa backports for 4.8.1.

Thanks!

If you can still access your data ok, then the notification generated is similar to the ones for the Akonadi Resource Yahoo IMAP server.

I suppose the plugin is encountering a timeout when polling the server and having to reconnect triggers the popup.

Depending on the frequency of updating, it can get pretty annoying.

Based on that message it is noting that the eGroupware resource on the server appears to not be valid as it does not exist (HTTP 404). Please verify your eGroupware resource settings.

I thought I mentioned the part where it worked before the upgrade to 4.8.1?!?!

Also, my Wife is still on 4.7.x and hers connects fine without issue...

/soapbox
Stop blaming other software for screw-ups created by failed programming techniques and just fix the issue. It irritates the hell out of me when new code is introduced and causes serious issues that everyone is having and developers/zealots blame every other processes but the "New" code because they either can't fix it or don't want to be bothered to revert the working code...

Case in point with this is the whole Kdepim suite! It worked for years and then someone got an itch to add "Features" that broke everything, then spend the next 2 years un-fsck'ing the mess when they could have averted the whole thing by taking some programming classes, or better yet, a step back and not taking on something they couldn't handle!

Stop adding **** and start fixing bugs! When all the bugs are squashed, then add new things (But only if you have the technical ability to do so!)
/end_soapbox

Geez.. Don't mean to be so blunt, but really!!! Kdepim is such a freaken mess right night - no wonder everyone is moving to Thunderbird!

You did mention it worked properly before upgrading to 4.8.1.

However, as you upgraded from 4.7.x to 4.8.x it is possible that the way settings are stored has changed and now need to be reconfirmed in order to set things straight.
