Sorry for the late reply Bcooksley a few issues came up that I had to take of.
I didn't see any Akonadi modules but Akonadi is running. I did a Akonadi Self-Test and it got an error MySQL Server log contains errors. Everything else passed without errors. Here is a listing of the Error Log. 120619 13:39:50 InnoDB: Initializing buffer pool, size = 80.0M 120619 13:39:50 InnoDB: Completed initialization of buffer pool InnoDB: The log sequence number in ibdata files does not match InnoDB: the log sequence number in the ib_logfiles! 120619 13:39:50 InnoDB: Database was not shut down normally! "socket-F14VM1/mysql.socket" this came from copying the KDE from the virtual machine where I run kmail. This may be part of the problem. I'll have to look where kmail got this F14VM1/mysql.socket from. ddan |

The name of the socket in use should not make an effect there. That log looks normal to me as well, and can probably be ignored.

Debian Wheezy (what is now testing but will become stable when the freeze is over) contains KDE 4.8.4 + kdepim 4.4.11 (=KMail 1.13.x, which looks similar to what you want.
I haven't compiled anything, so I won't be able to offer any advise, but the following debian links might help you: - http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/kmail - http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg ... kdepim.git OTOH: There's a big list of dependencies which you may have to look into as well, so I'm not sure if this post actually helps ![]() |

Great News. I have kmail1 working. Maybe I should wait a few days before I make that statement.
The problem was a procedural error and a code change wasn't necessary. Many thanks to Marc, lamarque, Bcooksley, diederikdehaas and others who helped me get kmail1 working. I'll post a procedure to compile kmail1 and install kmail1. This isn't difficult once you know what you're doing. Does anyone know how to convert the .so files into rpm files? What would be nice would to get a couple rpm files and post to some place like sourceforge. Anyone who has done this your help would be appreciated. ddan |

I have developed a procedure to compile and install kmail1, see "How to compile and install kmail1" on this forum.

Here's a helpful direct link to your procedure, which I hope to try soon. |
