korganizer, kolab : manage ACL

Mon Mar 12, 2012 1:14 pm
Using KDE 4.7.4 / Fedora 16

Hello,

I set up a kolab IMAP account in kontact and mail / remote contacts list / remote agenda work as expected.

My single problem lies with managing ACL regarding a remote calendar. The folder properties dialog after clicking on the agenda item in the korg module does not have a tab to manage ACL. This tab does exist with folder properties of a contact book and of course regarding a mailbox.

How should we proceed to manage the Access Control List of a calendar ?

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend asking about this on the kdepim-users@kde.org mailing list. I have not been able to get a response from the developers at this time in regards to this.

Code: Select all
echo "delete from collectiontable where name = 'AgendaName';" | mysql -D akonadi --socket .local/share/akonadi/socket-hostname/mysql.socket

This makes the unreferenced folder appear in kmail folder pane, and a right click / folder properties gives access to ACL management. The folder will disappear on next kmail launch.

An ordinary user won't do this !!!

Your best chance of getting this fixed in this case is to request that the developers add the ACL support as a properly available option.

Yep, thanks for the advice.

I don't think they would. I understood from posts in many forums that calendar ACL support for kolab existed many years ago, then it mysteriously disappeared, still many years ago. I have not found one single request for this, quite surprisingly, as it can be viewed as a 'backbone' for enterprise workflow. Perhaps it's deliberate, to encourage companies to inquire about KdePim enterprise at KDAB ? This is still reasonable in my view !

Anyway, thanks for considering.

The proper avenue to ask the developers would be through bugs.kde.org, if a request does not already exist there.
