This started 3 months ago after an update.
Since that I get a pop up error every time I boot KDE

It looks like this:

It's so annoying, it reminds me Windows ME with error pop ups on start.

I am using Kubuntu 11.10 (KDE 4.7.4)

Any tips will be appreciated.

Does it happen with a local mailbox or a remote one (e.g. IMAP)?

It happens everytime I turn on my computer.

Is it related to email? Well I have an SMTP email setup on KMail that's all

These warnings come from folders in KMail. There's a bug with local folders that makes it happen, but I need to know if your folders are local or remote. Or do you mean you're not using KMail at all?

Given that both Plasma and KOrganizer are generating this, can you check to see if you have an events resource? If you do not, try creating one. If you do, please make sure it is configured.

Yes, I use Kmail. I have remote folder and local folders. Do I have to delete the local folders?

No, but note down the path of your local folders (check in "akonadiconsole", click on "Local Folders" then "Configure", and note down the path) and have a look there (you may want to look not only for the folder there but also for an identical folder with "-directory" appended to it). Check if you have any 0 byte size files under cur/, new/ or tmp/.

Ok thanks for helping me. I just did that and there are 3 folders "cur", "new" and "temp". Those 3 folders have nothing inside... empty

What should I do now?

I get this error, and I've already removed Kmail. It's a Plasma error which occurs on startup.

Plasma does seem to try to connect to my old POP account sometimes, I think for the mail notifier (that or it's just giving pop-ups when Opera is trying to do the same). If it is doing the former, I don't want it to, as my POP account will expire soon, and I've already stopped using it. I've seen nowhere to disable the Email notifier in Plasma though.

I tried looking at the KSystemLog, nothing jumped out at me, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Is there anything you suggest?

I bet after a re-install it'd never be seen again. It's just not the neatest way to do it!

Upgrading the distro and KDE did not change, but I bet this has simple fix
