I think my Akonadi database may be corrupt. Is there a way to tell, and if it is, is there a way to dump the old one and create a new one? I don't know the mysql admin user name and password to get a dump. Thanks.

The only real way to tell as far as I know is to check the log of an Akonadi startup. If you get plenty of SQL errors, then the chance is it is corrupt or otherwise inconsistent.

OK. I had some error logs, but they were just dbus disconnects. I also found a cute little utility from the task bar's Akonadi icon. If you right click on AkonadiTray, then press Configure, the second tab is called "Akonadi Server Configuration." Yes, it sounds a bit frightening, but there is a button in that tab that claims to test the db. The first time I ran it, there was a complaint about the error files found, but I restarted the mysql server and tested again, and naturally the error logs are gone. Still, I can't get into my calendars. I think I'll just go back to Evolution and leave the KDE calendar/to-do stuff behind. Shame. It's so much prettier
