Hello. I hope I'm posting under the correct place.

So, I use opensuse 12.1 with KDE 4.7.2.
Whenever I quit akregator and restart it all entries show up as unread every time even though I have either read them or marked them as read.
Does anyone know how can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I can't confirm (in 4.8.2)

suggest you rename the rc file ~/.kde4/share/config/akregatorrc and try again - feeds should be in different folder so they should still be there when you start

It didn't work. It did reset some settings but the problem stays the same. Whenever I close the program the read status of the articles resets.

you could rename your feeds folder ~/.kde4/share/apps/akregator and see if starting from scratch helps(need to re-add your feeds, start with a few), it holds the feeds' the opml and archive files

also test as a different user

there is an irc channel #akregator on Freenode someone there might be able to help

Before you move that folder, can you confirm if Akregator is adding to the cache of entries it keeps without problem?
I am suspecting a lack of permissions on ~/.kde*/share/apps/akregator/

How do I confirm that? Excuse my ignorance please.
The permissions for the folder and it's contents are :

drwxr-xr-x for the ~/.kde4/share/apps/akregator/ folder and

drwx------ for the Archive folder
-rw------- for the autosaved file
-rw------- for the crashed file
drwxr-xr-x for the data folder

I hope that is the info you are looking for.

Those look right. Can you confirm the files/folders are owned by your user?

Yep. All of them are owned by my user according to ls -l.

Okay, it is possible for the archive files to become corrupted, and this could be a symptom. With Akregator closed, try moving the Archive/ sub-folder elsewhere.

This solved the problem. Moved the folder elsewhere, started akregator, refreshed the feeds once and marked them as read. Closed it and the second time they showed up okay :D

Thank you both for your help!
