I love kjots but:
1. I need to know where my notes are stored; 2. I want to be able to choose where to store them (i.e., somewhere that is not 8 directories inside a hidden one and one that will not be gone when I eventually have to reinstall). Is that possible? I have just installed Kubuntu Pangolin and akonadi created the following by default: Notes Local Notes Local Notes Whenever I try to create a new book or a new page I get an error message: "folder /home/.../.local/share/notes.........." does not exist |

1) your notes are stored in ~/.local/share/.notes.directory
2) no, the location does not seem to be configurable you could create a notes folder where ever you wish and then link it (ln -s) to the directory kjots uses you could also use the export facility to regularly backup your books 3) try creating the missing folder, should resolve the "does not exist" |

Which ones: notes, local notes (1) or local notes (2)?
That's my usual approach, but I was looking for a solution that might fix the problem below:
I tried, but the missing folder is not just ~/.local/share/.notes.directory but something like: ~/.local/share/.notes.directory/asdWERdcsfiwerWER and the passive popup is too fast for my slow brain to jot down the entire string!!! Thanks |

1) I'd guess "notes" I only have 1 note folder there with 3 sub-folders (cur new tmp), you can actually tell which is being used once you can add a page in kjots
3) Mine actually has 5 folders there (no idea why) 5FGzSVur91 cur new tmp Vr6aONvezR try creating just these 3: cur new tmp other avenues: IRC: #kontact on Freenode Mailing List: kdepim-users |

how to (maybe) see the error message:
- open kdebugdialog - deselect all - select kjots - ok - open Kjots and try and create a new book - close Kjots - check file ~/.xsession-errors for errors |

this is getting awkarder and awkwarder for me:
1st of all, I don't understand why there are so many folders, when I have only one book created (LINUX) 2nd: all of them have the correct maildir structure (cur new tmp) 3rd: all of them are empty, BUT kjots is correctly saving the notes (but where?). |

mu notes are saved in ~/.local/share/.notes.directory
kdebugdialog, for me, has Kjots ![]() |

I don't have those options, even after installing kdepim...dev (chich I assumed might give me that oprion). |

This is probably distro related: I've just installed kubuntu pangolin in my notebook and I have the same problem:
the folder structures seems to be created correctly but kjots keeps wrongly and annoyingly notifying that the directories do not exist. |

I've realized that I misunderstood the problem:
I thought that I could not store notes in a specified path because the first time I did so I received the error messages mentioned above. Now that I've realized that kjots is giving me that error in three freshly installed systems concerning the folders created by default, it's obvious that remote storage of notes actually works. All you have to do is select a path and create inside it the 3 folders cur new tmp (which could easily be created by akonadi, btw). Ergo, solved. ![]() |

I too was getting a similar error while trying to write anything in Kjots :
error opening folder /home/.... Using Akonadi config I changed the path for local notes. After a restart I get no error and my notes are synced to a folder I could easily access and backup. |

Although I used to love it, I gave up on kjots for good quite some time ago.
It feels like an abandoned project. ![]() |
