Akonadi: How to configure syncing with "offline" ressources?

Hello all together,

I want to have some kind of "shared/global addressbook" (an addressbook that is available and synced to all users in the local network). To realize, I've set up owncloud on my NAS and created a DAV groupware ressource in Akonadi to get the shared contacts into kaddressbook.

My problem is: The NAS (and therefore the owncloud server) is not available all the time (i.e. my client computer can be brought into another network or the NAS may simply be down). In this case, I want Akonadi to silently re-sync the ressources as soon as the NAS is reachable again, and in the meanwhile, show me the local copy of the contact data (from the last sync) in kaddressbook. How do I configure Akonadi/KAddressbook to this?

Currently, I can't see the shared addressbook at all in kaddressbook if the NAS is not reachable. As soon as it comes available, the addressbook also shows up again. Furthermore, Akonadi tries to sync the data every several minutes (and naturally fails if the server is down). On each fail I get a system notification saying something like "sync error", which is really disturbing. Is there a possibility to turn Akonadi into some kind of "silent mode"? It would be totally okay if Akonadi notified me one time when the ressource is not available and one time when it comes available again.

I'm currently using KDE 4.7.4 (Kubuntu 11.10), but I'm planning to upgrade to Kubuntu 12.4 (which I think runs KDE 4.8)

Thanks a lot in advance,
thw

Kubuntu 12.04 comes with KDE 4.8.2; however, 4.8.3 is in the backports repository now and will move into main soon.

OwnCloud version 4, and a revamped sync client, are due out soon. Perhaps just waiting for the new version might be the best thing at this point?
