Have just started to use KMail.
I get the above error when trying to add an address.
First I get a message "The email address Irene was added to your address book; you can add more" etc
Then an error:- Personal Contacts: Unable to write to file '/home/bill/.local/share/contacts//NxIge5svgH.vcf': No such file or directory.
Do I need to create such a file or folder?

After a while my additions appeared in the address book but I still get the same error message when adding a contact.
Have I made a mistake in choosing KMail?

Does the directory /home/bill/.local/share/contacts/ exist on your computer?
If it does not, please run the following command in a terminal:
Code: Select all
/home/bill/.local/share/contacts/

Before doing this, please make a backup of your contacts. I am not aware of how KMail will behave when this occurs.

Running "/home/bill/.local/share/contacts/" produces "/home/bill/.local/share/contacts/: No such file or directory"
Thanks

Please make a backup of your contacts, then run:
Code: Select all
mkdir -p /home/bill/.local/share/contacts/

It should not be necessary to run this as root (and do not do so, if the command fails it indicates a wider problem)
