I ve just migrate to kmail2 and i was be asking every time to allow kwallet to store the password. I clicked on Always but on every startup kwallet asked me the same question.
So after some tries i chose to keep the password of kmail by kmail it self locally (but not secure as mentioned from kmail)
But even with this, kmail asks for the password on every startup.

I have a gmail account with imap

Thanks in advance

This is likely because the wallet needs to be unlocked for the very first time on login. To fix this, you can either change the password on your wallet (so you have none) or if you have already provided your wallet password, then you need to alter the automatic wallet close settings in System Settings.

I have no password for kwallet.
Now, kwallet does nt ask any more for the password
The dialog that asks me the password does nt belong to kwallet but i think to kmail or to akonadi

It appears that either Akonadi or KMail is not able to communicate with KWallet. Have you enabled the saving of your password in the IMAP resource settings?

Here is a screenshot, there is no checkbook to save the password. The password seems to be well entered but in every boot i am asking to enter it. If i simply close the kmail , after relaunch it, it does nt ask for the password.

Δημήτρη :),
Try this: Go to Kmail settings -> accounts, and for each account enable the "switch offline when closing kmail" option.

Unfortunately it did nt help. I have a feeling that the problem is that kmail starts before akonadi has finished its launch

I was afraid it would not work. I also have the same problem. I think there is an open bug for this.

Greetings,

I have been starting using Kmail and the program constantly keeps prompting me for an account password.
I think all adequate settings have been done correctly.

Thank you in advance for any helpful piece of advice to get rid of that very annoying issue (in case of several account it is practically impossible to proceed this way).

Leave the fields empty and confirm. This means no master password. It will still be active but won't ask for password.
