Kmail - IMAP folders not displaying?

Hi All

i am using KDE 4.8.3 from a clean install when I upgraded Kubuntu.

My work IMAP server will not display any folders in Kmail, although Kmail says that the IMAP account is online.
Nothing happens when i select Check Mail, no progress indicator, nothing.
I can send SMTP mail to the same domain using the SMTP server.

The POP accounts get my email fine on my other user-id on the same server. I just get the error message "Local Folders: Maildir '' for collection '' is invalid."

BTW I cannot add nor import contacts, so I am not sure whether this is a related (Akonadi) problem. Nothing happens there either...

Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Update:

i now have only my INBOX showing on the IMAP server and it can receive email ok. Some good news at least.

However I wish to see ALL the other folders on this server. Looking at the list of subscriptions & when i update the folder/subfolders, i still only get the INBOX folder. All the other folders/emails remain invisible on this laptop and visible on the other one (using Wndows/Outlook)!

Cheers

As far as I can remember this is a (rare to trigger) bug in which somehow the mapping between the IMAP folders and the local cache (for offline IMAP) is lost, and thus folders on the server are not visible on the client.
I find it odd because as far as I could remember this had been already fixed.
A solution exists, however, but it involves either:

1. creating a new IMAP account for the mail and having it resync (a bother if you have many mails)
2. manipulate the Akonadi data to force a rescan of the folders (potentially dangerous, although I've done it when that happened to me)

Hi einar

Thanks for your help.

I deleted the IMAP account and redid it.
Same problem: only the INBOX is subscribed and is the only IMAP folder that comes up in the list for that server.
I have also noticed that I have to exit and reenter Kontact for some of the changes to take place (reintialises the Akonadi settings?).
The IMAP server is running Linux (not that it should make a difference).

I am not sure how to manipulate the Akonadi data as the other option. Can you make a suggestion?

Else I will have to have a bash on Thunderbird!

Cheers
