Hello,
I'm buying a new PC with a SSD drive, and I'm considering putting both / and /home on it. However, using iotop to monitor my current laptop, I get PID PRIO USER DISK READ DISK WRITE SWAPIN IO> COMMAND 901 be/4 nicolas 16.91 M 19.49 G 0.00 % 0.01 % mysqld --defaults-file=/home/nicolas/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf... after half a day of use. This would mean akonadi writes something like 35Go a day on my drive ? I feel quite concerned about the survivability of my SSD... Are such disk usage "normal" for akonadi ? (I have one calendar and 3 mail accounts) Are there tips to decrease it ? Cheers. |

Akonadi uses MySQL as part of it's operation, to cache data. This may definitely be having an impact upon the interaction with your system hard disk. I would definitely be careful if one was going to use an SSD with Akonadi at this time, given that.
(Akonadi also uses Nepomuk, which uses Virtuoso - which may be a problem too).

This hasn't changed, has it? Or will it ever? |
