Hi all:
I have just completed a fresh install of Fedora 17 KDE 4.8.3. I am having the same problems that most folks are complaining about, but I would like some one to help me look at my system to see if it is miss configured. My simple understanding is that Akondai is a Mysql backend to all the kontact components. That being said. I see were there are pointers to all the old locations in .kde/share/apps. It appaers that all the data is stored there. I have a .local folder with a lot of subfolders with various text files, but I see no copies of the current data in any .local folder. Can someone help me by explaining this complex beast, and step me through my setup to help me find out what is broken. It has to be something simple like a broken/missing pointer to .local. Thanks for your help.

Akonadi acts as a cache, which means it does not touch directly the components (folders, servers). By itself it's a Qt only application, and thus its data is stored in ~/.local/share/akonadi (notice that it does only store its DB cache, the actual data storage depends on the data type).

That said, what kind of problems are you experiencing?

The problems that I experience after leaving the system on for about 12 hours with Knotact closed and then opened maybe three times then shutdown Kmail2 becomes slow (every mail needs retrieval that takes over 30 seconds per email), filtering will stop working (a select all and control J will work, but that can come with warnings about folder not accessible.

The other problem I have noticed is that .local/share/contacts is empty.

Thanks for your help.

Any errors that pop up in ~/.xsession-errors?
