Kontact/Korganizer unable to enter new events

I'm using Sabayon 9. I'm not able to enter any events in Korganizer or Kontact. When I try. I am shown the dialogue box into which I enter a title, the date and time, and a category. When I click on 'Apply' the title I entered is highlighted and that is all. I'm not able to save the event.

There are no items listed in the Calendar drop-box; maybe this is the problem. If so, I have not been able to figure out how to create a calendar.

Thanks for any help!

I'm seeing the same problem, none of my calendars are listed in the drop-down so it is impossible to add new events - it is also impossible to edit existing events; I can make changes but not save them.

Which types of calendars are you using?

Both don't work? In case of Google Calendar, are you using the old resource (often called "akonadi-googledata") or the new "akonadi-google"?

I'm using googledata, I didn't know about the new resource - it isn't available in my repository.

It goes without saying that my calendar used to work but now when I edit an existing event the calendar drop-down is empty and doesn't allow me to select a calendar. Same goes if I try and add a new event.

The old resource is broken and de facto unmaintained. I would suggest you use CalDAV for Google calendar instead if you can't upgrade to the new one.

Ok, thanks, I'll give it a go. I was using CalDAV before switching to akonadi-googledata, I think akonadi-google will be included in 4.9.

You are correct, it's included in 4.9 by default.

If you don't see any calendars in the event dialog's combobox is because you don't have any ( or they are read-only ).

Go to Settings->Sidebar->Show calendar manager.
The calendar manager should appear on the left pane.
Right click, and add a new calendar.
