PLEASE DISREGARD. PROBLEM SOLVED
Option to Add akonadi was there all along in Personal Info, only the button was totally white-out and invisible!!
==================
I installed openSuSE11.4 today and imported the address book (LDIF) exported from openSuSE11.2. All contacts are showing in KAddressbook afterwards in Personal Contacts but if I start a new message or try to forward an existing message the "To" field is blank with a "select button" to the right...I click on the "select button" and another box opens up offering me the following choices for address book:
All
Default Address Book
Distribution Lists
Recent Addressess
Selected Recipients

Regardless of which one I choose none of my contacts appear. If I manually type in an address and send the message, then when I select "To" in a new message,only that address appears in Recent Addresses. I have tried naming the exported address book "std.vcf" to replace the existing one in .kde4/share/apps/kabc/kabc/ but it did not make any difference.

Please help me solve this problem. Thanks very much in advance.

From System Settings / Personal Information / KDE Resources
The problem was that the very first button (on top of "Remove" button) it has no text, but I clicked on it just the same
after selecting Contacts > Edit and format as vCard, from dropdown, then click on 'Use as Standard'
Also added akonadi-resource

It still didn't show when Personal Contacts was selected in Address Book, but selecting "All" or "akonadi-resource", the contacts are all there.
Hope this helps.
