Ok, as a newbie to KDE I made a crucial mistake and did not back up my kjot notes in Kontact. I didn't even realize it was possible.
*facepalm* I had been putting them in the provided Akonadi_akonotes_resource space, thinking this safe. Then, today, go into Kontact and everything is missing. After searching the forums I found only vaguely similar problems, BUT with their tips I was able to make akonadi_akonotes_resource reappear, with the proper number of books. All titled crazy names, like 2ZXjdHHsjL, with no pages in them. I'm pulling my hair out. I had over 60 pages of notes. Anyone, have any freaking idea what to do to recover my precious notes? *tear* |

First discover the name of your old folder.
Mine is /data/secured/home/<user>/.local/share/notes/<XYZ> Then, open akonadiconsole, add a new akonotes resource, and paste your folder path. You might need to right click on the resource and do Sync Collection Tree and Sync All. The folders will have funny names, but your pages will be there.

What folder or items in the folder should I be looking for? I've found so many kjots, notes, etc. everywhere in the bowels of this computer if I never see 'em again I'll die happy.

ls /data/secured/home/<user>/.local/share/notes/ Your old folder will be one of those.

Nope.
Okay, lets make sure I'm even doing this right. Go into akonadi tray, configure. Add. Akonotes heirarchy. Path /home/<usr>/.local/share/notes/ I have 3 folders: cur, temp, new. I tried all 3 of them, and the notes folder itself. No books, at all. And, fyi, I've managed to make akonadi_resource disappear as well. |
