Hi there,
according to this bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279279 special icon should appear in tray to indicate new mails, if I understand well. At the moment I am using kmail 4.8.4 with Kontact on Arch Linux and there is no indication of new mail in system tray if themed SVG icons are used. Always only Kmail icon is here without any indication. Is it working for anyone here? How can I enable it? Thanks!

Due to the way the themed icons system works, it is not possible to overlay the icons with the message count at this time I am afraid.

Yes, but according to bug report, it should be solved by using different icon when there is a new mail. At least this is my understanding of bug comments and the commit:
I have put some icon called mail-unread-new.svgz to my SVG icon theme and it does not work.
