I am a MCSE of 16 years who desperatly wants to dump windows and ms - one thing is stopping me a decen pim like outlook. I thought I had found it when I found Kontact, Kmail etc.

I need to store all my kontact data on a network nas drive. I changed all the options to move the kmail store, the korganiser store, the contacts folder etc to a network drive and I can access all the data as required. However, while all appears well, Kmail resets all mail to unread everytime I go into s a folder. I can set the mail as read and it changes; however,when I revisited the folder again from kmail all have been reset to unread.

testing would suggest it is access righrs issues on the nas share as it works ok if I move the data to a local drive. However, the share is mounted via fstab with full rw access as a CIFS drive an as I say there is no issue writing new mails or receiing, thet are stored correctly on the nas share.

Could it be anything to do with the .directory or .directorylock file as I notice they record timestamps in the files or is this a total red herring and only used by Dolphin.

If anyone can solve this annoying issue then I would be very grateful!
