Hi!
I'm now using KMail for a couple of weeks with an IMAP account. But sometimes it forgets the SMTP Password, even if the checkbox for "Save password" was set. Then I am able to send mails but after some time it asks for the password again. I was not able to reproduce this behaviour yet. Are there any configuration files propaply screwed up? And is it possible that KMail does not use the KWallet? I clicked on "Close all open wallets" on the tray icon and KMail sent an E-Mail without asking for the password again. Can anyone here help me with that problem? Thanks a lot! Andi |

If you are on KDE 4.9.x and at least in Kubuntu this is a known problem - but so far no solution. Happens now and then, no pattern I, or others, can find |

Oh that sounds bad, but at least I'm not the only one with that problem.
And yes, I use KDE 4.9.1, forgot to mention this. But my distribution is Arch, not Kubuntu. Do you have a link to a bugtracker or whatever, about this bug? |

I've seen this but it's not very consistent (sometimes happens, sometimes not). I assume you all store your SMTP password in KWallet?

Yes, I use KWallet to store the password. And I can see it there under the folder "mailtransports".
The next time KMail asks for a password I'll see if it is also lost there. |

I have the same setup and the same problem as you. Kwallet doesn't seem to forget the password. Perhaps kmail/akonadi doesn't retrieve it in time and decides to ask you instead... ![]()

This reminds me of a similar problem I also experience sometimes!
My WLAN PSK is also stored in KWallet and I use NetworkManager and it's Plasma Applet. It also asks me sometimes for the password, even though it is in the unlocked wallet. Maybe this is relevant? |

I don't think so. At least, in my case, it happens because, ... because Broadcom. I just cancel that prompt and ask it to connect again. Very rarely, I've had to toggle the wireless on and off. In either case, I don't need to enter the password again. kmail, on the other hand, will absolutely refuse to send any emails until I enter the password.

I seem to recall that the issue with mailtransport is due to interaction problems between the mail transport agent and KWallet itself. Hopefully the upcoming (2 weeks from now) KDE PIM sprint will address this issue.

Bumping with good news: the issue has likely been found out and a patch to fix it is being reviewed by the KDE PIM developers. Hopefully it will land in 4.10 final.

I'm happy to report that this is fixed, and will be in 4.10: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-commits&m=1 ... 810500&w=2
