KMail vs KMail2

Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:36 pm
Newbie alert -- be nice.

Looking at screen shots on the interwebs, it appears that there is a KMail and a KMail2. I installed Kubuntu 12.04 with which came KMail 4.9.1. Is there a KMail2 with its own versioning?

Thank you,
Smittie

You probably already use kmail2. The shift was internal—kmail used to have its own storage for mail, etc. kmail2 started using the centralized akonadi framework to store its data. The transition happened maybe a year ago. Now, we are all using kmail2, which is just kmail for short. :)

The version of kmail will be the same as your kde version (4.9.1), so it's a bit meaningless.
