Please would someone inform about future KDE notetaking?

KJots is obviously dead, Basket abandoned (so sad!), Tomboy, Cherrytree, Keepnote not suitable ....

What's the plan? Go without anything?

thx for some insight,

Well, what kind of answer did you expect?

Not too much - just someone who has some insight to step up and tell me and the other people that are just users:
what is the plan for the future?

If someone wants to use KDE productively, like I do, then you have to plan ahead a bit ... it turned out it was a terrible mistake for me to get all my notes from different sources combined into kjots. but for a while kjots looked like it's planned to be an integral part of the KDE Desktop. Now I don't want to commit to the next mistake by starting to use let's say Keepnote just to find out it was never really considered by developers to be the candidate for KDE notetaking ... and will never be supprtoed by Kontact/Akonadi for example ...

To answer your question:
I expected a developer to inform about the direction here - or to tell us: Forget it there's noone working on notes, we don't consider this any priority ...

At least I know then and have to find a way to cope with evernote/everpad ...

BTW: I'd prefer Basket to be reimpemented and integrated into Kontact and Dolphin maybe rekonq - but that's just me ... zim would be another hcoice but it isn't Qt ....

Thx for reading!,

Hi!

I personally do not know about a KDE notes application in active development, which does of course not mean there isn't one.

For the applications you mentioned, I'd recommend you just ask on their mailing list. Probably most of the developers are not reading this forum regularily, and other people are unlikely to be able to give accurate information about the status of the project.

Greetings,
Sven

Hi, Piedro.

It's passed some time since your post. Have you found any solution?
Basket seemed nice, but as you say it seems abandoned. I have read also about Braindump, but it's not integred in Kontact and the interface seems too complicated for a simple note taking program, so I feel a bit like you... :-/

Hi!

Yeah it's an old thread, but nothing changed - it's getting even worst: In KDE 4.10 kjots (in which I held all my stuff for the moment - not convenient but you have to write your notes down somewhere ... ), so Kjots has been removed from Kontact in the default (as has another useful program for productive workflowÄ: Ktimetracker...).
So now I have the problem on a new system to reintegrate my notes to at least have them for making a copy. But to get your kjots notes out of a backup is a huge pain .. (many threads on that!) ... - so to answer your question: No, I havewn't found any good solution up till now ...

And to be honest: I am not optimistic ... it seems that the way KDE is going is very much focused on the Plasma Desktop/Widgets/plasmoids stuff and still struggles with all the akonadi/nepomuk bugs and integration ... It seems there's not many people anymore developing on the productive side of things - it is sad!

thx for reading,
piedro
