According to an earlier posting I installed libgcal then akonadi-googledata
The result is that KaddressBook now shows two address books 1) my original and 2) the Google address book AkinidiTray is running. No sync event has happened. Any ideas? Ubuntu 12.04 KDE 4.8.5 |

You should not use akonadi-googledata and libgcal, as they don't work and they are completely unmaintained. Instead you should use akonadi-google and libkgapi, which should be provided by your distro.

Thanks, can't find akonadi-google or libkgapi in Synaptic although I do see libkgapi0
Have downloaded akonadi-google-0.3.tar.gz which I think is the latest version but don't know what to do now! Could you advise? |

Couldn't get anywhere with this approach (my fault, no one else's!)
Found http://userbase.kde.org/Working_with_Google_Calendar Although it doesn't use AkonadiTray, it got me up & running in about 5 minutes |

If your issue is solved, can you mark it as such? Thanks!
