I just tried to archive some old mail using kmail 4.9.3

Just one folder - it appeared to work but when I check
the archive using ark, it reports the date of all messages
in the archive as 2038-01-18

what's going on with this

(I know this is minor compared to losing mail but
it makes the archive much less useful if you can't
see the proper dates of messages)

Does it happen all the time? How exactly are you archiving the mail?

It seems to happen all the time; I am archiving by right clicking on a folder
in kmail and choosing "archive folder". I get the same weird date error
whether I compress or not - so maybe it's some tar problem.

Can you see this under a new user account? If so, this probably warrants reporting a bug.
