I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum but since my issue is in some way linked with Kontact I'll post.
My system has numerous "fetch" errors when it is starting up.... and no matter how many times I reconfigure my contacts akonadi when I next restart the application my contacts (google) never load up. and I often get 'api' questions. My guess is that the applications are attempting to querry the akonadi server before the information is pulled by akonadi. Thus the "fetch" errors. So is there a way to better or more completely start the akonadi server during the KDE graphical login? I know I am not posting a backtrace, etc.... My question is fairly generalized. but I'm hoping for a solution... or even an acknowledgement that developers are aware of the issue?

Can you post (pastebin) these errors? It's hard to tell what's going on by the description.

I thought I had the issue solved, but a restart of my system led to the same error. I'm not even sure I could bug trace it -as it doesn't appear to be a bug as much as it is just the way akonadi is handling the permissions into my gmail account. Basically the conflict is between two components of the Kontact suite. kOrganize & kAddressbook. Akonadi is touching each of these applications individually, but each application is attempting to pull data from my gmail account. Whichever application gets there first displays a pop-up html window asking me to input my gmail password so it can validate with gmail. No problem. The application does validate and then commences to download the needed data... either calendars or contacts.
This is where the problem comes in. it's really coming at the start of configuration. I configure the first app (lets just say kaddressbook) & akonadi pulls my data. Then I move on to my second app (we'll say korganize) and it validates my password with gmail as well. Now here is the problem. Let's say I log out & log back in... The akonadi server attempts to hit each of those accounts again when I start the applications. It should be no problem, right? Wrong. as soon as I log on akonadi starts working in the background... pulling the data from gmail servers. But now I get multiple "fetch errors." because the application is not being seen as validated by gmail so it refuses the info... and I get fetch error after fetch error for each calendar it attempts to pull data for, and for each of my gmail addressbooks. I say calendar(s) & addressbook(s) but I only have one gmail account. I just have a couple of different addressbooks & calendars. So the only thing I can do is go into the setup of one of the applications and delete the gmail account. Here is the message I get that makes me think it is an access/permissions problem between gmail and the application(s):
This warning makes me think that perhaps the issue is with akonadi. So, can anyone else confirm that this has happened to them? This is mind boggling because the applications do work correctly upon first setup... but once you leave KDE and log back in the fetch errors start immediatley. I am certain it is NOT an issue with either Kontact, korganize or kaddressbook... Because the fetch error (permissions?) is happenning without those applications even being started. So a bug trace wont do any good. I know I can get debug info through the akonadi console app.

It is not "akonadi", but rather the Google resource. But it is strange, as it should get a token to prevent further password prompts. I'll see if I can find someone to look at this.

Just wanted to report that since my last post akonadi appears to be working flawlessly. Thanks, devs for the smart work!
