A whole day I am trying to make kmail on a second account working.
Although kmail does work on a the first account, I can not make it to work on the second one?

Obviously, all settings are taken over, except username, emailadres

-> Identities are filled in.
-> IMAP settings under account (configuring kmail) is sometimes green and sometimess not, displaying "offline"?
IMAP folders do not show up, even when changing authorisation.

When sending an email anyway, a notification pops up: " socket operation timed out "

I am using kubuntu 12.10 - pretty standard.

Did you try accessing the IMAP account by other means to rule out a network issue? Can you check in the account configuration whether the parameters (in the "Advanced" section) match the ones you need to use with the server?
