How to remove duplicate mails?

Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:04 pm
AFter all kinds of backups, rereading folders, trying to fix a lot of kmail2 problems - I get more and more duplicates, in local folders as well as in IMAP folders. Problem is the "remove duplicate" button does only remove 5% to 10% of my duplicates ... (probalbly it recognizes that some mails have been in a backup folder or reimported or whatever ...)

My question is:
Is there any other solution to removing duplicates from folders (e.g. a plugin maybe or a clever filter setup) ?
Or is there any way to customize the builtin "remove duplicates from folder" option to be less picky (I'd be content if a duplicate is established by the fact that sender and receiver and the mailbody is the same ...)?

thx for reading,

That's a fairly unusual situation. In order to ensure it's not a configuration problem, please attempt the following:

- Create a new user account
- Setup kmail from scratch on that user account
- See if the issue manifests again.

thx for your answer!

Can't use it for the moment, to set up a new kmail AGAIN is quite a stretch - can't do that before maybe when upgrading my system to Kubuntu 13.04.
I have set up Kmail about 15 to 20 times within the last 2 years - to resolve bugs, to identify them, to just get things working again ... bugs go and come back, reconfigurations sometimes resolve things, some times mess up stuff even more ... I am tired of it ... I will give kmail another shot with Kubuntu 13.04 but now I just go with thunderbird (which I dont like at all btw!), i dont have the stamina to do more fiddling ...

thx for your efforts,
I hope not to bother the forum anymore,
