I am thinking about using OfflineIMAP (http://offlineimap.org/) to sync my e-mails from the e-mail server to a local maildir structure and access these maildirs from KMail2. Has anyone here already tried such a setup? Any experiences or advice?
Background: the disconnected imap facility of kmail2 (4.10.3) is (at least for me) very unreliable as soon as the internet connection becomes unstable (e.g., working on a train). Yesterday I lost a lot of important e-mails because of that (basically, move operations silently deleted instead of moved, locally and on the server). Thus, I'm considering either 1) adding an additional layer, see query above, or 2) downgrading to kmail1 again, or 3) migrating to a different e-mail client. Since I actually like the kdepim integration, and since kdepim-4.4 has other problems, 1) seems an interesting though ugly workaround... |
