Several weeks ago, Kontact started hanging. I've seen many other unanswered threads about kontact hanging during ( fill in the blank ), but mine hangs for any and all events after it has been running for a few minutes. When I first log in to KDE it performs normally, but after a few minutes it will not respond to anything I try. it sits there for a minute or two and then I can do one thing such as select an email to read, select a menu option, whatever. then it freezes again. Sometimes it allows me to do several tasks before deciding to freeze again for a few minutes. I've been forced to install and use Thunderbird just in order to use email, but I don't like it. Kontact is great but this has to get fixed. I've tried tweaking Akonadi and other things. I've upgraded to KDE 4.10. I'm running Linux Mint 14. Kontact is using MySQL. Oh several people mention CPU at 100%. I don't have this problem. I have 8 cores and 16G ram on my Lenovo W510. Resources have never been an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some checks you may want to run:

- Are you using MySQL or MariaDB? (personally I've noticed issues if PIM was compiled against one and used with the other)
- Are there any errors in .xsession-errors when this issue occurs?
- Is mail indexing enabled or disabled? Is the whole semantic desktop on or off?

I am using MySQL and set up Kontact initially for MySQL

There are tons of lines in .xsession-errors. I don't know where to begin with this.

Mail indexing is enabled. I'm not familiar with the semantic desktop. I have tried running Kontact with mail indexing enable as well as disabled and there does not appear to be any difference in the problems I am having.
The most recent was that my entire X-session locked up. I had to CNTL-ALT-Backspace to kill everything.
