Automatically mark all mail in Trash folder as read?

Is there a way (filter, maybe?) to ensure all mail in the Trash folder is automatically marked as read? What I want to avoid is having unread but trashed mail showing up in the systray icon, among other places. None of the filter criteria pertain to message location, so I'm not sure if that would work... ?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you want to remove notifications for Trash (not a solution but a workaround), right click on the Trash folder, select Properties, then uncheck "Action in case of new or unread mail in this folder". This will disable the notifications in the system tray.

Seems like I had once considered doing that, but decided against it for some reason... can't recall why now, though, so I'll guess I'll do it. Thanks!
