Hello, I just made the switch from gmail to kmail and I like it so far.
On gmail, I can set it up so that I can change the "From" address with another email address other than gmail. E.g From: xyx@example.com in the From header And when I got an email in my gmail account, I can reply using the email address it was send to instead of the gmail address. Is it possible to set it up in Kmail ? I tried playing with Aliases but I am unable to change "From" address. I also tried setting up another account so I can change "From" (using gmail settings) but the email are sent using gmail address. Someone must have ask this question before but I am unable to find any relevant information so far. I guess I must be using the wrong keyword. I am hoping someone here will be able to direct me to the right place or info. Thanks ! |

I found out how I can do this.
1) Use the only google's IMAP for email checking 2) Set up different sending smtp accounts 3) Set up multiple identities and tie each individually to the corresponding smtp account. This methods works even though its alittle hassle if I have many accounts. Hopefully there is an easier way. |

You can switch to a specific identity for the server in the "Advanced" tab for the account's configuration. Unfortunately, you can only select one identity at a time, so I'm not sure if it's what you want.

If you look under menu "View" while in composer window you can set it to show "from" field and at least I can change that to whatever I want. However you also have to change "reply to" field to get it to work as I think you want.
Note this is not via gmail but good old pop/smtp, gmail might change something. On Kubuntu 12.10 with KDE 4.10.4 |

Thanks for the response. All the above methods work in some way or another.
Using advanced tab to define a reply-to-address works when the receiver click on on reply but the email's FROM: is still the original email it was sent from. Changing FROM: under view tab works but I would prefer a more automated solution. Therefore I guess my original solution is preferable to me but thanks for the replies. I did not know I could change the labels under "view" ! |
