Ever since I installed the 4.11 update yesterday, searching fails to find messages that I know are there. It seems as if it has lost its index. Is it possible to trigger a rebuild of the index?

There used to be a method in 4.10, I'm not sure if this remained in 4.11. I'll ask around.

same here, arch linux fully updated with KDE 4.11 ... even searching only one single folder fails to find any mail matching even the most simple criteria ... the search creates a virtual folder but it's empty ....
btw: the quick search/filter above the message list works great ... plz, anyone, what to do here? thx, p. |

There was a nepomuk bug in that regard that got fixed in 4.11.1, maybe to try with that version?

Actually, after 4.11.1 it has gone from bad to worse. Now Kontact/Kmail is completely unusable. It downloads new mail just fine, but when I click on an unread item it says "Retrieving Folder Contents" and then, maybe after ten or fifteen minutes (not exaggerating) it displays the message.

Please open a new thread describing this problem, so that we can avoid getting off-topic here.

I am seeing the same on search for mails, totally erratic. Being on Kubuntu 12.04 with all updates and KDE 4.11.1

Surely there must be some way to trigger a rebuild of the index and restore the search capability. KDE developers, are you monitoring this thread? It is a terrible loss not to be able to search our past emails.

With kde 4.11 and 4.11.1 search didn't work for me but after the update to the git version of nepomuk it was working again.

I tried the reindexing suggestion from piedro, but that didn't help anything. I still cannot find things that I know are there. But what is this about a Git version of nepomuk? |

The latest developmentversion. I browsed in kdes bugzilla and found a bug that was like my problem. But it was not merged before kde 4.11.1 and I failed with using the patch so I updated nepomuk to for that time latest trunk version with git and it worked. somthing like
But I also made a package of it but that is distro specific. The problem is you don't get the stable version (even if it is working for me). A better way is probably apply the specific patch on a stable build of 4.11.1. As I understands it the patch should be in kde 4.11.2 either way and I suppose this version soon is released. If the distro don't update to kde 4.11.2 they probably backport the patch if they get a bug rapport |

Well, even after the 4.11.2 upgrade, the search still does not find messages that I know are there. It is actually next to useless. It only finds the most recent messages, not those that are several weeks old. I have decided to return to Thunderbird.
