KMail corrupted

Tue Aug 20, 2013 2:30 pm
I am using kubuntu v13.04 64 bit (updates current) with KDE v 4.11.00
Have been using KMail for a long time, with no problems.
Now it suddenly is corrupt - hangs when any action is taken.
Example: As soon as I click on any folder that contains content, a large message appears;
"Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait..." Nothing else happens no matter how long I wait!
When I click on the sent-mail folder, the same message is updated.

Ran Muon Package Manager – uninstalled Kmail > Successful. However, Kmail still ran using the same corrupt version !!.
Repeated this process 2 more times. Finally suceeded!
Package Manager indicated KMail was not installed. Rinstalled from Muon Package Manager Aug 19
I still get the SAME STUPID CORRUPT VERSION!! Sure would appreciate some help to resolve this dilemma!

Maybe you need to purge the configuration files before you reinstall. You can do that with "apt-get remove --purge kmail".
It seems like you're thinking that there's another version available. If so I'd look at "apt-cache policy kmail" to see if there were another version available. Then I'd "apt-get install kmail=versiontoinstall" to get the version I want.

It can be frustrating when you need an answer and you get nothing for days. Yet if everybody goes away and never comes back then answers are even harder to come by.

Sometimes it's difficult to figure out if a problem is KDE or the Distro (though it's more likely to be our own setup). I prefer to use both the KDE forum AND my distro's forum.
