Hi there,
A few weeks ago, my KMail suddenly stopped displaying messages. The list seems to be ok. But clicking on a list entry doesn't display the message. I just get a "please wait..." (or whatever) message. I've tried several things that I found here and there. The only one that seems to have an effect is : 1. quit KMail (with kquitapp kmail) 2. stop Akonadi (akonadictl stop), 3. wait... 4. trash everything in ~/.local/share/akonadi 5. run nepomukcleaner, 6. start akonadi, 7. wait.... 8. start KMail. 9. re-configure KMail to map the directories on my 3 IMAP accounts. Generally, that will work... for the next 5-10 minutes. Here is the output of akonadictl start :
I also tried to modify some config files, to configure my accounts with/without TLS, etc, etc... I'm using ArchLinux with everything up-to-date. Any idea how I can get back a working KMail ? Thanks ![]()

Does that work if you disable Nepomuk temporarily? I'm guessing there are some issues with its database, by looking at the output you provided.

Hi,
Thanks einar for your answer ![]()
Well, not really. Each time I stop Nepomuk (via System Administration > Desktop Search), KMail relaunches it...
I agree. |

It shouldn't be restarted. Can you try issuing a "nepomukctl stop" and retry to view a mail?

Hey,
Thanks, that was the command I was looking for. Unfortunately, the result is the same : nothing is happening. I don't know if KMail does something or not. But the message doesn't show ![]() I also got this message (I started KMail from the command line) for one of my 3 IMAP accounts : Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it ![]() |

Perhaps clearing the cache might help. Bear in mind that doing so will cause all mail to be redownloaded.
Should you want to proceed anyway, launch "akonadiconsole" and locate the "Browser" tab. Right click on the account name you will see and select "Clear Akonadi Cache". Start a new sync of the mail and see if it works. Alternatively you could try fixing errors. Run "akonadictl fsck" to attempt a repair of the internal data structure (bear in mind it does not output information and just starts a background process, so you won't be informed of its updates).

Hey,
Well, sadly none of your suggestions worked ![]() I finally stopped akonadi, removed all directories related to Akonadi (~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.config/akonadi) and restarted KMail. I reconfigured all my accounts and things are running smoothly since then. I hope it will survive the suspend mode. Thanks again for your help. I have an additional question. This REALLY isn't a troll, I just want to understand and see if I can help somewhere : what is missing to make KMail + Akonadi work really properly ? |
