[edit] It was not really solved, but everthing works again. Sorry I can't point to a cause, but whoever may have the same problems, can off course try the same 'solution' [/edit]

Perhaps a week ago, akregator refuses to fetch 1 of the feeds. The other feeds are ok.
So I removed that feed, inserted the feed and about 20 messages appear. But they are more than a week old !
Ok I removed all messages except 1, because akregator does not dispose messages older than 2 days, what I had setup for that feed.
But still no new messages.
I exported the feeds
shut down kontakt
removed:
~/.kde4/share/apps/akregator
and
~/.kde4/share/config/akregator.rc

started kontakt again,
imported the feeds.
And... that same trouble feed gets the same old 20 messages from before, but refuses to import new messages.

liferea works ok, so the problem is not at the feed.
At my work that feeds works ok.

What to do next?
How can I remove ALL settings/data from akregator? It looks like there is some data elsewhere that I didn' t delete.

using kde 4.12.0
akregator 4.12.0

what did you delete? did you delete the apps folder $KDEHOME/share/apps/akregator ? just the archive folder and autosaved file should suffice but definetly save the .../data/feeds.opml file as thats the list of feeds

Yes, that is what I deleted.
What autosaved file?
In de akregator folder are two subdirs

Archive
data

I tried before deleting only the Archive folder without success.
So that's why I deleted the akregator folder completely. ANd the akregatorrc.
But there seems more info elsewhere.
Of course I made a backup of feeds.opml :-)

So I'd like to know about every place that akregator keeps data.
Ok I can try one other thing.. emerge akregator again.
We'll see

as best as I can tell that's all the places akregator stores things

I found the autosave file but there is nothing special in it.
Emerging akregator again did not help.
On my laptop, also with kde-4.12, the same feed works ok. This feed was never there so I just added it. And I did not receive 20 messages from a week old, like on this pc happens. ANd after a while I get new messages on my laptop. Not on this pc.

But thanks anyway for your replies.

Ok some new info
When I start akregator from the commandline, I see some errors.
CLicking any feed gives:
Code: Select all
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter

But on my other pc's I have no problem with this feed. There I have also KDE-4.12
And the feed url is the same on all pc's
When closing akregator:
Code: Select all
akregator(23752)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
akregator(23752)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
akregator(23752)/kdeui (kdelibs) KXMLGUIClient::~KXMLGUIClient: 0x8308e0 deleted without having been removed from the factory first. This will leak standalone popupmenus and could lead to crashes.
akregator(23752)/kdeui (kdelibs) KXMLGUIClient::~KXMLGUIClient: 0x8e2fe0 deleted without having been removed from the factory first. This will leak standalone popupmenus and could lead to crashes.

Perhaps somebody can give me a hint?

those don't look relevant to your issue

try this:
- run kdebugdialog -> deselect all -> search akregator -> select akregator -> ok
- delete file ~/.xsession-errors
- open akregator and try and read the bad feed -> close akregator
- open ~/.xsession-errors -> look for akregator errors

Hello google01103, thanks for your reply.

kdebugdialog is nice! I didn't know that one :-)

When I deleted .xsession-errors, there is nothing written to that file anymore, so I logged uit and in again.
I removed all feeds except that bad feed.
Start akregator..
Code: Select all
.....
X-KDE-akregator-version          :  "1"
X-KDE-akregator-framework-version:  "4"
akregator(4722) Akregator::FeedList::readFromOpml: loading OPML feed "opml"
akregator(4722) Akregator::FeedList::readFromOpml: measuring startup time: START
akregator(4722) Akregator::Backend::FeedStorageMK4Impl::FeedStorageMK4Impl: "http://forum.refoweb.nl/rss.php"
akregator(4722) Akregator::FeedList::readFromOpml: measuring startup time: STOP, 1 ms
akregator(4722) Akregator::FeedList::readFromOpml: Number of articles loaded: 26

There are 26 messages read from the archive.
Then I click on that feed to select it:
Code: Select all
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
but that will happen with any feed that I select.
Then [fetch messages]
..nothing in the logfile.
Then shutdown akregator:
Code: Select all
akregator(4722) Akregator::Part::~Part: Part::~Part() enter
akregator(4722) Akregator::Part::~Part: Part::~Part(): leaving
akregator(4722)/kdeui (kdelibs) KXMLGUIClient::~KXMLGUIClient: 0x9148f0 deleted without having been removed from t
he factory first. This will leak standalone popupmenus and could lead to crashes.
akregator(4722)/kdeui (kdelibs) KXMLGUIClient::~KXMLGUIClient: 0x8982e0 deleted without having been removed from t
he factory first. This will leak standalone popupmenus and could lead to crashes.

still confused :(

sorry no more ideas

when I added your troublesome feed I get 28 unread articles while you get 26, I assume your other machine also gets 28 ?

there's one other thing to try and that's as an other user to see if it's something in your config on or system wide

Thanks google01103 for helping me testing and looking.
I learned about a few things that they are ok.
But now what is not ok :-)

another user! why didn't I think about that.
Yes with another user it works perfect. I get also 28 new messages but that is ok. That are the newest messages.
So there must be something different with my own account. That is why I asked how to delete all akregator info. To make a fresh start.
Well it proves that the system is ok.
I even did a chown -R kees:kees ~/* to be sure that there are no acces violations.
But no luck :-)
Pulled my network cable to be sure that there is no hidden database where akregator gets messages from :-) but it could not connect.

But... there is hope!
I copied the akregator/ folder from the other user to my own and... there are new messages coming in! :D
That's weird.

Ok, If it still works for a few hours, I can change the topic to [solved]
Thanks for your time!
