Hello!

After a few month of akonadi working decently suddenly akonadi server won't start anymore:

Database error: Cannot open database.
Last driver error: "QMYSQL: Unable to connect"
Last database error: "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'

Since there has not been any majpor updates I don't get the point here ...
Mysql Workbench works fine, other programs using mysql either.

This is on KDE 4.12 on fully upgraded Arch linux. PLz note that there has not been a problem before with 4.12.

thx for reading,

Additional:

I haven't changed any permisssions on the socket file ...

I would like to avoid to reindex all files again as the database seems still to be intact.

Well I could solve this by simply deleting the folder ".local/share/akonadi" - now akonadi runs perfectly again but kmail is complaining about "unable to execute collection query " - i open a new thread for that. thx. p.

your issue may be that you didn't remove all your Akonai files, they are in multiple locations:
    $KDEHOME/share/config/akonadi
    ~/.config/akonadi/
    ~/.local/share/akonadi

To restart Akonadi instead of deleting the files try:
Code: Select all
pkill akonadi_control
pkill akonadiserver
mysqladmin shutdown --socket ~/.local/share/akonadi/socket-$(hostname)/mysql.socket
akonadictl start
