I'm using Davmail to access my employer's mail server. This transport works very slowly. That's why i do need disconnected IMAP server configuration, which worked fine on kmail prior to Akonadi.

I've tried to turn on disconnected mode, but when I select the message kmail tries to load it from the server. So, to view a message, I need to wait about 10 seconds. So, I suppose, that disconnected mode for IMAP server is not functioning for me.

Are you sure the delay you're experiencing is due to network connectivity? Can you check whether there's traffic on the net when you select a mail? (Ensure you don't check while you're syncing).
