Can somebody point me to some documentation that actually works. I've tried 50 times to set up kmail on my Mag 4 system but no matter what I try I never seem to get it right. I get all tangled up trying to make connections to Akonadi (what's that?) and I can never get my account settings right. I haven't been able to use the product at all and have taken to Thunderbird out of desperation because Evolution, I know, is not what it used to be. Is there a decent book that tells me how to set up kmail or is there somebody here who'd kindly help me set up kmail?

First of all, what type of account do you connect to?

1. Is it Google's GMail or another provider?
2. Will you be using POP or IMAP?
2a. If using IMAP, do you want to keep a copy of the mail downloaded on your own machine?

I have three imap accounts. One is on gmail but the other two are not.

Suggestion: don't use the wizard. Open Configure KMail > Accounts and add accounts from there. If you want to keep a local copy of the mail, move to the Advanced tab in the account configuration dialog and check "Enable disconnected mode".
