How does archiving of akonadi mail resources work?

Hello!

After upgrading to 4.13 and setting up kmail2 again (like I have about every 2 to 3 month now since 4 years) I realized that the akonadi mail resources now have an option "folder archive". Trying to use it (for obvious reasons: I am fed up with setting up the mail akonadi resources every few month) leads to confusion:

Clicking on "activate" gives me the hint "Archive in: no folder..." There is a button to "choose a collection" - so what is a collection, aren't we talking about folders? Collecting what and why are all the folders (obviously akonadi mail folders - aren't these the ones I want to archive?) greyed out? ... can't even scroll down here ...

Please:
Is this a bug?
... or a feature that's incomplete?
... or a mockup for discussion?
... how should I use it?
... where is documentation about it?
... what is a collection other than a folder?
... does this work for anyone, if yes how?

thx for reading,
piedro

p.s.: I know about the possibility to zip folders as archives but those can't be included in searches. Is this different with this additional archive option?
I also know there is a method to archive mails that are older than predefined number of days into archive folders. So is this new method supposed to be a third independent archive option or do these supposed to play together and how?

I'll ask the coder who worked on this and get back to you.

Do I have to do any further steps to automatically get the thread updates?
