Knotes update lost notes

Fri Apr 25, 2014 6:03 pm
During the last update from 4.12 to 4.13 all of my notes stored in ~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes.ics are not listed when opening the application. The data is still there but for some reason knotes says I have no notes. In the Akonadi Resources Configuration I created a new Local Notes pointing to the ics file but still no luck in viewing the notes through the application. Reading online seems to suggest that it has moved to ~/.local/share/notes/ but I'm not sure how to migrate my old data. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Did you check in the configuration if you have any "collection" selected?

I had the same problem after upgrading to 4.13.

IMHO the notes migration cannot even work because the knotes kresource is removed in 4.13, so knotes-migrator can't read ~/.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes.ics.

I managed to migrate my notes by installing the old resource from 4.11 (the files /usr/share/kde4/services/kresources/knotes/local.desktop and /usr/lib64/kde4/knotes_local.so) and running knotes-migrator manually.

The bug got fixed, so for anyone affected, they should ask their distribution to include the relevant fix in their package. Alternatively, 4.13.1 will include the solution officially.
