Hello, I am running KDE 4.13.1 on OpenSUSE 13.1. Akonadi is no longer syncing contacts in Kaddressbook with Google contacts nor is it syncing the calendar in Korganizer with the Google calendar. I am using the Google Contacts Resource and the Google Calendars And Tasks Resource in Akonadi. This quit working sometimes in early 2014, however, I don't know exactly which KDE version it was where it quit working.

If I delete the resources and then re-add them then Akonadi does do the initial synchronizations successfully to build the KDE calendar and addressbook from Google. However, after that first sync, Akonadi no longer works to sync changes in the addressbook or calendar.

What's up with this and is there a know fix?

Thanks,

Gordon

Apparently it was a bug, that was fixed. Expect a fix in the newest stable release (4.13.2). See https://bugs.kde.org/334320 for details.

Hello einar,

Thanks for the reply! I will look forward to getting it fixed with 4.13.2.

I installed 4.13.2 this morning and it appears that this problem has indeed been solved. I have done multiple synchronizations with the calendar and address book and everything has worked properly so far. So, this issue is resolved.

I now have KDE 4.13.2 but I still can't sync my tasks and events on KOrganizer with Google Calendar. Whenever I modify an event I get an error message that says:
Code: Select all
Bad request, Google replied ' "{ "error": {  "errors": [  {  "domain": "global",  "reason": "required", "message": "Missing end time." } ], "code": 400, "message": "Missing end time." }}

The message says the end time is missing, but on KOrganizer it appears to be stated.

I've been getting these messages for events and similar messages for tasks since version 2.1.0 of libkgapi. I even filed Bug #332410 on this issue.

Any ideas?

I've just installed Debian Testing on VirtualBox with KDE 4.13.1 and version 2.1.1 of libkgapi and I have exactly the same problem: events modified on KOrganizer don't sync to Google Calendar. The error message is the same: bad request, missing end time.

The fix is in 4.13.2, rather than 4.13.1. You can expect an update from your distribution.

I do have KDE 4.13.2 on Arch Linux with libkgapi 2.1.1 and, as I said, I've had this problem (Bug #332410) since last March, first on 4.13.1 and now on 4.13.2.

In order to check that I'm not missing anything, what I'm now doing is trying out other different installations on Virtual Box. I tried out Debian Testing, which still comes with KDE 4.13.1 and now I'm going to try out a fresh installation of Arch with KDE 4.13.2, also on Virtual Box.

jtroncoso, that is strange. There is something unique and different between my installation and your two installations since I haven't had that problem since I upgraded to 4.13.2. I have no idea what to recommend. Sorry!

Gordon, thanks for your answer. Have you checked that your events sync to Google Calendar after you edit them on KOrganizer?

jtroncoso, you are right! The Korganizer calendar will not sync edits to Google. That is, it appears to successfully sync new events, however, after that, any changes made in Korganizer's calendar do not sync to Google. I will add a comment to your Bug #332410.

Thanks for pointing this out. Because of the 4.13.1 bug where nothing synced, I assumed everything was now syncing properly in 4.13.2 since the KDE folks said it was fixed and I saw that new events were indeed working. However, I was wrong.

I have just made a fresh installation of Arch Linux with KDE 4.13.2 on VirtualBox and I keep getting the same error. I can create and delete events on KOrganizer and sync them to Google Calendar, but they don't sync after I edit them. I think that there must be a bug somewhere.

Gordon, thank you for checking that. Now I can stop racking my brains and wait until the bug is definitely fixed.

I am seeing this bug on OpenSUSE 13.1. Yes, this has to be a bug.

I have been more thoroughly testing my installation and I have found the same problem with KAddressBook. That is, additions and deletions of contacts in KAddressBook are synced to Google, however, edits are not. So, this is a problem for both KOrganizer's calendar and KAddressBook.
