Hello,
I wanted to remove some local mails which shouldn't have been left by Kmail on the first place so I removed ~/.local/share/local-mail. After that several processes like mysqld, akonadiserver, akonadi_maildis, dbus-daemon, etc. started running around 50% of CPU and that caused for my system to run at critical temperature of 96C. I am wondering why this happened. Thanks. ![]() |

Did you do so while Akonadi was running? That's definitely not supported. You should not remove files that may be in used like this. If you want to remove mails, you should either remove them from KMail, or delete the local folders resource and make a new one.

I removed Kmail emails accounts and Local Folders resources from Personal Information but that didn't remove the rogue emails from Local Folders. In that case I was forced to remove the ~/.local/share/local-mail folder. If removing files required by Akonadi while Akonadi is running is not supported then maybe 1) they should not be owned by user which makes them prone of removal by a 1000 ways 2) even if removal is not supported in that case Akonadi should be stopped and notified that Akonadi environment has changed please restart or do something instead of melting down the system. Akonadi runs all the time. I couldn't find any settings in Akonadi Configuration or Personal Information to explicitly turn off Akonadi. This sounds like a bug to me. |
