Hi.
I tried looking around for it a bit, but all i could find was that the Evolution email suite was capable of ews connection/mapi. Not sure which is the correct one to use on the newest office 365. But i'm trying to completely migrate to Linux/Kubuntu. I've been using kubuntu on and off for a long time, but now i'm giving it a real go. I was able to find out about the "Sipe project" which will hopefully be enough for my Lync need, but we are using Office 365 as our mail solution, and offcourse i could just use the OWA, but I would really like to have a application locally. Is it possible to use kmail? If not, is there any planned development to make this work?(possible to speed this up by donating directly to a function?) Any help, tip or solution would be greatly appreciated. The office 365 system uses exchange 2013 in the backend, and using Outlook 2007 via wine is not an option as this is no longer a supported version and is really hard to get to work even in windows with office 365 wave 15. My setup is about 15 folders and somewhere between 5k and 10 000 emails and growing. Cheers Simen Skogheim |

I don't think there's active work for ews/mapi yet: most of the work is at the moment going on in standard-supported approaches or in porting to KDE Frameworks 5.

Apparently you can set up Davmail locally on your computer to do the office365 connections, then KMail/Kontact to access Davmail, you may find some pointers here:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6553&start=15 or if you search for davmail office365 there are plenty links for just mail access you can use IMAP to access office365, see this link: http://tinyurl.com/p7o6bmb |

more info here on Askubuntu, possibly a bit outdated, on how to set up Davmail as intermediary:

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look at the links and see if I can get it up and running!
Ended up with Wync (http://fisil.com/) as the pidgin client did not support video, phone calling and all the other functionalities we use with lync. Wync looks like it's going to fit my needs perfectly in regards to Lync at least. In the end I can always use web outlook my phone or imap based client for email, but the lync was the most critical one. Again, thanks for all the links ![]() -thondal- |

I ended up testing it myself... and it seems to work
The best instructions are on Askubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/22977/ca ... gh-kontact the link you need once you installed davmail (deb package on their site) for office365 is: https://outlook.office365/owa I untick mail myself as IMAP works just fine Then follow the askubuntu instructions for calendar and contacts, they are a bit outdated but am sure you can figure it out. Your id will be \yourofficeid@yourofficeodomain.comorgwhatever and your password I am sure you know already. Click "fetch" and your contacts / calendar will show up. I have not yet managed any public address books and not really tested functionality but at least this way you can get connected |

Hi ,
Anybody know of a simple guide to setup Kmail 5 with an outlook.office.com account and to work without Davmail ? PS: Why is this process so hugely complex ? [ excuse my ignorance, but setting up email is usually just a few clicks away..!! ] |

The reason is that Microsoft took a standard and added a few "extra" touches to it, IIRC.
