Please excuse if I am postig this in the wrong area, but I am seeing this issue with Dovecot and Gmail imap connections on kde 4.14.1 on debian 8.
On the system with the dovecot connection, I am seeing this in akonadiserver.error:
and this in akonadi_control.error:
I have a webmail client and two android clients able to access the server concurrent to this error. restarting akonadi resolves the error immediately. I will check the gmail system when I get to work to confirm whether I see the same in the logs there. |

The second error is a red herring, you can safely ignore it. Can you try to restart akonadi in a terminal, and see what other output is printed when you get this hang?

Howdy folks.
Having this problem with Kmail AND Thunderbird. I'm currently running a fresh installation of Fedora 22 with KDE. I installed Thunderbird and configured IMAP to my VPS mailserver (cPanel) but it just hangs on "Connected to server" it does not download folders or mail. The problem began about a week ago (in Fedora 20 KDE) so I upgraded hoping it would fix, but it hasn't. I tested last night in Kmail and that client is also just hanging (forever) and says "error with account" What's happening here? How can I troubleshoot? Thanks! |

This looks like a server error. Do you have web mail access? If so, does it work?
