All my accounts, a combination of outlook, gmail & yahoo, are set up as IMAP accounts.

I will click on an email and in the preview pane it will say "Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait..." and it will stay like that forever.

The only way I can get kmail to start to work again is to enter "akonadictl restart" and then all will be OK until the next time it happens. I tend to have to do this 20 odd times a day.

I've seen other posts with this problem but I don't seem to have the problems they were having (i.e. I don't haver multiple trash cans or multiple in boxes per account, I don't get high CPU usage when it freezes)

Same problem here, appeared in 4.14. It worked before.

since you are using IMAP have you tried removing and recreating the accounts? Yes I know it is a headache.

I have 3 pop accounts and 1 IMAP myself being on Kubuntu 14.04 and using KDE 4.13.3 and having no issues. I was on 4.14 for a while but reverted due to some kind of cpu issues, not KDEPIM related. Had no IMAP issues. The known and reported 4.14 issue and IMAP is with dovecot servers, certainly not with google

I think this is an issue with IMAP servers that don't support UIDNEXT. I don't see it here with my own server (Cyrus 2.5 git, from Kolab 3.2).

I have two IMAP accounts. Google works fine. Runbox will not display new messages. The system goes through the motions of getting the mail but nothing is displayed. It was working fine in 4.13.x.

I must be totally inept at searching the KDE Bug database, as I cannot find the bug report on IMAP and Dovecot servers in 4.14. Would someone be kind enough to forward me the bug id # or a link to the bug?

Is that the case for GMails IMAP server?

Well I have an office365.com IMAP account on KDE 4.14 (upgraded again) with no problems. For my gmail account I use pop3 as I only access it either via my laptop or webmail so no need for IMAP really. So I do not face this problem with Outlook (I guess you meant either office365.com or outlook.com)

Sorry, my mistake. You are correct the known issue is with Courier, not Dovecot as I mistakenly wrote

Same issue here, with Runbox

After checking which accounts are causing my problems it seems to me to be only the yahoo accounts.

Same issue here, with Runbox

Runbox is planning to move from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot. Let's see if the KDE developers can fix this first or if Runbox migrates to Dovecot first.

In the meantime I am using Runbox Webmail.

So there's evidently a problem with Courier-imap servers.

Is this what yahoo uses as its getting a bit of a pain to call "akonadictl restart" every time I need to check my two yahoo accounts. I have no problems with my gmail or my Microsoft email accounts.
